Damiaankerk
The Damian Church is a former parish church in the West Flemish city of Kortrijk, located on the Aalbeeksesteenweg 7, 11-13.
History: In 1906 a Carmelite monastery was established here with its church, dedicated to Saint Joseph. In 1944, a bombing destroyed the buildings. From 1947 the complex was rebuilt in a moderate historian style. The church, inaugurated in 1954, is a one-storey hall church with a concrete window in the front. Access to the monastery is granted via an eight-sided staircase tower. In 1995 the Carmelites left and the Church of Saint Joseph was taken over by the Sacred Heart parish, which formerly churches in a hall. The Church of Saint Joseph was now called Holy Damian Church. In 2020 the church was withdrawn from worship. Church and monastery were sold to the Poverello Foundation, to make it a social restaurant.
