About

The Bruulpark is a park in the Belgian city of Ronse (province of East Flanders), located on Bruul and Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat. The park was built around 1800 as l'Esplanade. It is located north of the Hoge Mote, and the current music kiosk of 1966 replaces an earlier one built halfway through the 19th century. In the park you will find the fences of Saint Sebastiaan and Saint Hermes. On June 22, 1952, a monument in honor of the fallen Sint-Sebastiaan archers was unveiled on the edge of the park (Antonia Depootereplein). This includes a statue of Saint Sebastiaan and a fountain, a creation by architect Edgard Lelubre and sculptor Geo Verbanck. In 1964 a monument was placed for the victims of World War II with a bronze statue by Joseph Cantre, named Spring (1944). Finally, there is a statue in honor of Modestus Stephanus Glorieux, a Roman Catholic clergyman who has meant a lot to the poor.
