Belgian Beer World
The Belgian Beer World beer museum is an experience centre around Belgian beer culture, located at the former Brussels Trade Fair in Belgium.
History: The Stock Exchange is located on the Beursplein in the centre of Brussels and is owned by the City of Brussels since 2011. From 1858 until 2015, the historic building from the Beaux-Arts period was used for exhibition activities, but only for temporary exhibitions. On the initiative of local politicians and the association of the Belgian Brouwers, a project was launched to give the Stock Exchange part of a re-destination as an experience centre around the heritage aspect of Belgian beer culture, which is recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. The beer museum project was initially called Belgian Beer Temple, three years later Belgian Beer Palace and was finally chosen for Belgian Beer World.
Development: In 2015, an architectural competition was organized for project proposals for full renovation and redevelopment in various functions of the building.
