Kapel Onze-Lieve-Vrouw onder de blauwe hemel
The Chapel Our Lady Under blue Heaven is a chapel located in the Flemish-Brabant municipality of Pepingen. Since 1938, the chapel stands against the façade of the former farmhouse, located on the Hoesnaek 65.
History: Originally there would have been a larger chapel on the other side of the road where six seats could stand. However, this building has disappeared. Frans Debar, owner of the farm, had Maurice Raemdonck build a new stable with barn and chapel. In 2008 the site was sold to the current owners who renovated the farm. At the construction of the new concrete road the chapel was lifted up and placed two meters further on the current place.
Architecture: The pillar chapel is made of brick in cross-wall and is covered with a saddle roof of pans crowned with a Latin wrought iron cross. The niche is worked out in the form of a pointed arch and is closed by both a glass plate and a thief iron. Above, an arduin facade stone has been inserted with the inscription "OM 1938". In the niche is an image of Our Lady on an increase. The walls are finished with cementing with blue imitation joints...
