Cathedral
cathédrale Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Lambert de Liège
The former Saint-Lambertus Cathedral in Liège, full of Cathedral of Our Lady and Saint-Lambertus (French: cathedral Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Lambert) was the main church of the diocese of Liège. The church was dedicated to Saint Lambertus of Maastricht. The first predecessor of the church was probably from the eighth century.
The cathedral was rebuilt several times, last from about 1185 in Gothic style. The building was demolished during the Liège Revolution (1789-1795) and in the years of the French occupation (1794-1814) by Liège sympathizers of the French Revolution. The Place Saint-Lambert and (underground) the Archéoforum are now on site.
