About

The Goeding Bridge is a combination of highway bridge and bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Leie between Afsnee and Drongen near Ghent, in front of the motorway E40 (A10).

First bridge (years 1950-2026): The first bridge was built in the 1950s at the construction of the E40. At the beginning of the 1970s, the bridge was widened from two to three lanes per direction. The free passage height is therefore limited to 5.72 meters. It is also useful for cyclists, if climbing a staircase, and saves them a large detour. This bridge is the only one in the 10 kilometers between the N437 (Sint-Martens-Leerne - Deurle) and the recent Muinkhampad bike bridge next to railway line 50A. The pedestrian bridge has a length of 53,54 m and a width of 2,12 m and is suspended with metal bars at the bottom of the Goedinge bridge. On the two bridgeheads of the pedestrian bridge the year 1947 stands.
