Artillery Wood Cemetery is a British military cemetery with World War I victims located in the Belgian village of Boezinge, a submunicipality of Ypres. The cemetery is located more than one kilometer east of the village center and was designed by Reginald Blomfield. The terrain has trapezoidal ground plan with an area of 4.435 m2 and is surrounded by a brick wall. In front of the left is the Cross of Sacrifice and on the right is the Stone of Remembrance with between the brick entrance building. The cemetery is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. 1,307 deaths are commemorated, including 506 unidentified.
History: The cemetery is located just east of the Ieperlee Canal, near the front line. Just south of the location lay a bush called "Artillery Wood." At the end of July 1917, at the Battle of Pilckem Ridge, the British (Guards Division) reclaimed the German territory. After this battle, the cemetery was built. She remained in service until March 1918 and at the end of the war there were 141 dead. Afterwards, the cemetery was expanded with more than 1,000 deaths that were transferred...
