Church building
Heilige-Kruisverheffing-en-Sint-Jozefkerk
The Saint Joseph's Church is a church in the municipality of Bruges, Belgium. It is the parish church of the center of Sint-Kruis, located along the Moerkerkse Steenweg. The church was built and finished from 1851 to 1857. The building was built in a neo-Gothic style by architect Pierre Nicolas Croquison. A start for construction was a sudden increase in population on St. Kruis, which made the church too small and considered necessary. Pierre Nicolas Croquison signed the church's plans in 1851. In the 19th century, neo-gothicism was on the rise, especially in Bruges, which was Belgium's most important neo-gothic centre.
