About

The Botanical Gardens of the University of Liège (French: Espaces botaniques universitaires de Liège) are the botanical gardens of the University of Liège. The gardens are located on the southeastern edge of this city and east of the university. The gardens were founded in 2008 and are a combination of four botanical gardens: The Observatory for the World of Plants and the Botanical Garden, both in the village of Sart-Tilman, the World Garden and the historical greenhouses of the Botanical Garden of Liège.

Together, the gardens cover an area of 21 hectares. The World Garden has a place in the middle of the other gardens. The gardens are based on a popular scientific approach that seeks to attract the widest possible audience.

As a result, the classical system is somewhat loosened and more discussed the interaction of man with plants. The gardens are included in an association (vzw) and are part of the Embarcadère du Savoir, along with other attractions such as the Aquarium-Museum, Zoological Museum, House of Science, House of Metallurgy and Research Station of Mont Rigi.
