Begraafplaats van Aaigem
The Cemetery of Aaigem is a municipal cemetery in the Belgian village of Aaigem, part of Erpe-Mere. The cemetery is located along the Frankrot, 450 m east of the village centre (Sint-Niklaaskerk). The cemetery has a rectangular shape with a new extension on the eastern side. It is divided into two parts by a central path and is surrounded by a wire fence and a hedge. The access consists of a double gate.
In the southeastern corner of the cemetery lies a perk with 2 British killed from World War II. They are the graves of Sergeant Arthur Samuel Brown and pioneer Leslie Gerald Parsonage. They died on 18 May 1940 during the fighting against the advancing German army. The graves are maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and are registered there under Aaigem Communal Cemetery.
