About

The Divine Child Jesus Church is a church building in the Belgian city of Turnhout, located on the Steenweg on Oosthoven 170.

History: In 1933, a chapel was founded in the northeast of Turnhout. This was dependent on the Saint Peter's parish. A church, designed by Gustaaf Van Meel, was built from 1934-1935. In 1940, the church was elevated to a parish church.

Building: It is a south oriented, brick pseudo-basilica in a style that has features of the new propriety and art deco. On the northeast corner there is a semi-built tower under tent roof. The church is covered by a saddle roof. The narthex and the choir have a slightly lower saddle roof. The windows are narrow rectangular and arranged in groups of three. The ship and the choir have concrete pointed arch vaults.

Interior: The interior has 20th-century furniture and artworks, and an organ of 1954. There are stained glass windows and crossroads in sandstone relief.
