Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Hemelvaart en Heilige Catharinakerk
The Our-Lieve-Vrouw-Hemelvaart church is the parish church of the town of Steenhuize, belonging to the municipality of Herzele in eastern Flemish.
History: In the 14th century there was a Gothic church building. In 1835 a large part of the church was replaced by a neoclassical structure.
Building: The north oriented church has a built-in tower on the south side that still comes from the 14th century church. This tower is built in sandstone. The peak is from 1576. The rest of the church is built in brick. The façade shows pronounced neoclassical style features. The church is built on the Kloosterberg.
Interior: The middle beech is covered by a tongue vault. The organ was made by Charles Anneessens.
