The Count Castle is a water castle in Humbeek, north of the village bowl, on the edge of the 's Gravenbos. It is also called the Castle of Humbeek or the Lunden Castle, after the name of the former owners. The castle is built in baking and sandstone.
The oldest parts date from the 15th and 16th centuries. The origin of the castle is situated in the 14th century. At the end of the 16th century, the castle suffered severely from the violence of war and was thus restored in the 17th century.
In the 19th century the castle was restored and expanded in neo-traditional style. In the interior of the castle you will find a sandstone chimney mantelpiece with kariatides, a salon lined with Córdoba leather, beautiful woodwork from the 17th century and 17th century ironwork. Around 1700, the then lord Jacques Le Cocq became count in Castile, making Humbeek a county.
The castle and the domain came into the possession of the family Le Candele in 1804. In 1880 the domain was inherited by the also from Antwerp family Lunden. Baron Theophile Lunden was the lord of the castle from 1880 to 1908.
