Heilige Maagd Mariakerk
The Virgin Mary's Church (Eglise de la Vierge Marie) is a parish church in the municipality of Herve, Belgium, located on the Chaussée de Julémont.
History: In the 12th and 13th centuries there was a castle chapel here. In the 15th century, Julémont was elevated to a parish. Eventually, a church was built in the 18th century, which was destroyed by acts of war in 1914. The current church, in modern Gothic, was built from 1926-1928 and was designed by Giuliatte. It is a one-storey cross church with flat closed choir, built in blocks of tuftstone. There is an attached square tower under tent roof. In 1928 the church was blessed and of the same year are the altars and the communion bank. These were manufactured by Saint-Laurent. A crucifix of the early 18th century, in polychrome wood, by the Liège School, is present in the church. There is a 12th century baptismal font with four masks. The adjacent cemetery has a number of 17th century grave crosses.
