Heidekapel (Vosseslag)

The Heidekapel (also called Saint Monica chapel) is a church in the district of Vosseslag, located on Heidelaan 24-26, in the municipality of De Haan.

History: The Sisters of the Holy Childhood from Ardooie founded a monastery and a school in 1939 in this district, as the population had increased considerably. From 1943 there were also Missen commissioned and in 1955 a chapel with rectory was built next to the school according to the design of Maurice Haegebaert. In 1962 it was elevated to a auxiliary church.

Building: It is a simple building under saddle roof, equipped with a roof rider. In the façade is an entrance with round arch, above which a five-light. Up here a niche with a statue of Maria with Child. The chapel is connected to a monastery complex.
