About

The Christ King Church is a modernist-style church in the Belgian city of Aarschot. The church is dedicated to Christ King. The second pattern is St.Rochus, patron saint of the city of Aarschot.

Existence of the King's Christ parish: In the late interbellum and after World War II, the population in the northern periphery of the city of Aarschot had increased to such an extent that Father Verpoylt, also Dean of Aarschot, thought it appropriate to save the faithful the long way to the Church of Our Lady. For a long time, celebrations were consorted in the nearby chapel of the Fathers of the Sacred Hearts, the so-called "Picpus". In 1956 a chaplain was appointed for the care of the community. In 1957 the parishioners built an emergency church for about 350 places. On December 22, 1957, the official establishment of the new parish "Christ King" was proclaimed. Reverend Gustaf Vermonden became the first priest. The area had over 3,200 believers. A thriving parish was founded in a short time with several Catholic social, cultural and religious associations.
