Heilig-Hartkerk
The Sacred Heart Church is a Roman Catholic church building in the West Flemish town of Izegem, located on Roeselaarsestraat 55.
History: It was a neo-Gothic private church built in 1895 in the garden of Mrs Eugénie Angillis after the design of Izegemian architect Jules Vercoutere. When the Sacred Heart parish was founded in 1907, the building, which had been empty for some time, was donated to this parish. In 1908 the church was renovated, but in 1917 the church was claimed by the German occupiers and put into use as a theatre. In 1930 a tower and a sacristy were added to Carlos Beyaert's design.
Building: It is a north oriented, three-beech brick church building with built southwest tower. The whole is done in neogothic style.
