About

The Bruges Biermuseum is a visitor centre located on the upper floors of the post office building on the corner of the Grote Markt and the Breidelstraat in Bruges. The museum focuses on the history of beer from past to present, beer in Bruges, the Trappists, beer types in general and brewing processes. It should not be confused with the Brewery Museum on Walplein.

Legal: The Biermuseum Bruges vzw was founded on 22 May 2013 by Emmanuel Maertens, Thibault Bekaert and Dominique Laloo, with the aim among other things of operating a "beermuseum with degustation space." The registered office was transferred to Breidelstraat 3, 8000 Bruges, the address of the museum on 25 August 2014.

Building: The post office building on the corner of the Grote Markt and Breidelstraat was designed together with the Provincial Court by architect Louis Delakenseries. It was put into service in 1891. The upper floors were used sequentially by the City Archives and by federal government agencies.
