Langoiran Castle is a former castle located in the Entre-deux-Mers, in the commune of Langoiran in the department of Gironde, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The remains of the castle are classified as historical monuments by order of 19 May 1892.
Location: The castle is built on an angle of the plateau formed by the right bank of the Garonne and a small perpendicular valley, overlooking the hamlet of Pied-du-Château, on the commune of Langoiran, in the French department of Gironde.
It was built in the 13th century by a family of lords from the municipality of Escoussans: the Seguin d'Escoussans. This town is located about 10 km southeast of Langoiran. Prior to their installation in Langoiran Castle, the Seguin d'Escoussans were military (equivalent to knights) and vassal lords at the court of the lords of Benauges. The Seguins remained the lords of Langoiran until their alliance with the family of Albret in 1345 (date of the marriage of Amanieu d'Albret and Mabille Seguin d'Escoussans).
