chapelle Saint-Michel de Sournia
The chapel Saint-Michel de Sournia (Sant Miquèl de Sornhan en Occitan, Sant Miquel de Sornia in Catalan) is a 10th-century preroman chapel located in Sournia in the French department of the Pyrénées-Orientales in the Occitan region. This 10th-century chapel, together with the chapels Saint-Martin-de-Fenoller, Saint-Jérôme d'Argelès, Saint-Laurent de Moussan, Saint-Nazaire de Roujan and Saint-Pierre de Léneyrac in Ceyras, is a witness to the pre-Roman architecture of the Wisigothic tradition in Septimanie, a region that corresponds to the current regions of Roussillon and Languedoc that have been an integral part of the Wisigothic kingdom of Toulouse (419-507) and the Wisigothic kingdom of Toledo (507-711). It is located more precisely in the Fenouillèdes, which is the Occitan part of the department.
