forts d'Ambialet
The forts of Ambialet are a set of six small fortresses located around the city of Ambialet, which were part of the compound of Ambialet. Now ruined, they served to defend the city, the siege of the ancient Viscounty of Ambialet belonging to the Trencavels. They were placed on the various peaks of the ridge linking the old castle of Ambialet to the Priory of the Oder, and served as strong points for the city's enclosure. Most of them were destroyed by the Huguenots in 1568, during the Wars of Religion, and then left to abandonment.
