Victory column
colonne Vendôme
The Vendôme column is a Parisian monument located in the centre of the square of the same name in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. It was erected by order of Napoleon I from 1806 to 1810 to commemorate the Battle of Austerlitz, then destroyed during the Paris Commune in 1871, before being rebuilt in its present form. Over the years, she received the column names of Austerlitz, then the Victory column before becoming a column of the Great Army.
It is commonly referred to as the Vendôme column. It is distinct from the column of the Great Army, which is near Boulogne-sur-Mer. It has been classified as historic monuments since 31 March 1992.
