Nécropole Michelet

The Michelet necropolis is an ancient necropolis excavated in Lisieux in the 1990s. The search lasted from 1990 to 1993, and was published in 2022. The site is that of the late antiquity necropolis and the high Middle Ages of the Roman city of Noviomagus Lexoviorum.

The necropolis is used from the end of the third to the end of the fourth century, then from the sixth to the beginning of the ninth century. The site, identified as early as the last quarter of the 19th century, was able to be searched thoroughly and allowed demographic, anthropological and pathological studies. Numerous studies have been carried out since the 1990s even though the excavations were not published until 2022.
