Heilig Hartkerk
The Sacred Heart Church is the parish church of the village of Vilvoorde, located on Thaelstraat 5.
History: In 1909 a parish was founded here because this former hamlet increased strongly in population due to the industrialization of Vilvoorde. In the same year or later, a church was built according to the design of Georges Cochaux-Ségard.
Building: It is a three beech brick church building under saddle roof with flat closed choir. On the west side of the roof is a bell tower with a square base and above the gallamholes a helmet-shaped roof.
Interior: The interior is covered by a spire tone vault. The altar is neo-gothic and the stained glass windows are from 1927.
