Le Bois de la Caille is an urban park open to the public, located in Cauire-et-Cuire in the Rhône department. It is bounded to the north by the district of Cuire-le-Bas, to the northeast by the climb of the Rochette, to the east and to the southeast by the district of Cuire-le-Haut and to the west and to the southwest by the 4th arrondissement of Lyon. Covering an area of about 6 hectares, Bois de la Caille is situated on a pentue area, known as balma, separating the plateau of the Croix-Rousse and Cuire-le-Haut from the district of Cuire-le-Bas, located on the edge of the Saône.

History: The place's toponymy is not related to quail (bird) or the presence in these places of "cailles coiffées", an explanation sometimes advanced. The Bois de la Caille is named after the Caille family or the Caille, according to the sources, which owned a large nearby property. This domain was already called Caille in the 16th century. The parish registers of Cuire mention marriages celebrated in the chapel of the domain of Caille on 23 October 1695 and 19 September 1724.
