naufrage du Duc de Normandie
The Naufrage du Duc de Normandie is a maritime disaster that occurred on 21 February 1951 when, caught in a storm, the French trawler Duc de Normandie, en route to supply fuel to Flessingue, dark off the Belgian coast. 23 sailor-fishers perish during the shipwreck, only the captain and his brother can be rescued by the American Victory Ship, the American Counselor. The captain, congested by the cold, died a few hours after getting on board.
