About

The Abbey of Flaran is a former Cistercian abbey, daughter of the Abbey of Escaladieu (Hautes-Pyrénées), located in Valencia-sur-Baïse, in the Gers department. It was founded in 1151, at the confluence of Auloue and Baisus, at the foot of a rocky spur on which was founded the bastide of Valencia, between Condom and Auch, by the monks of the Abbey of Escaladieu. Joyau de l'art Cistercien, classified as Monument Historique, is one of the best preserved abbeys in south-western France that still presents all its monastic buildings and garden.
