sanctuaire gallo-romain d'Aulnay
The Gallo-Roman shrine of Aulnay is an ancient cultural complex located in Aulnay, in the French department of Charente-Maritime. It consists of a cella fanum (circular inside and octagonal outside) and octagonal peripheral gallery, a probably square or rectangular peribole and at least one annex building. The excavations carried out in several countrysides between 1982 and 2007 do not allow to determine the time of its construction, probably prior to the 2nd century AD, nor the date of its abandonment. To preserve them, the remains are re-encrusted at the end of the excavations but an archaeological garden allows to visualize them.
