About

The castle of Germolles is located in the municipality of Mellecey, in Saône-et-Loire, in the heart of Burgundy, not far from Beaune and Chalon-sur-Saône. This castle is one of the best preserved residences of the Dukes of Burgundy. Built in the second half of the 14th century, this home bears witness to an important page in regional history and evokes court life in France on the eve of the Renaissance.

It is one of the few examples of houses of this type still well preserved in France for the fourteenth century and the first half of the fifteenth century. Today, the castle and its park (private property) is open to visit. There is a cultural season from October to June.

It is one of the fourteen exceptional places open to the public gathered for twenty years in the "La Route des châteaux en Bourgogne du Sud". The castle obtained the label Maisons des illustres in 2013.
