Pont des Arts

The bridge of the Arts, or bridge of the Arts, is a Parisian bridge crossing the Seine. This pedestrian work is located in the heart of the city, in the 1st arrondissement on the right bank (quai François-Mitterrand) and in the 6th arrondissement on the left bank (quai de Conti). Built in cast iron at the very beginning of the 19th century, it is the first metal bridge established in the French capital.

It became obsolete and weakened in particular by several shipping accidents and collapsed in part in 1979. It is then rebuilt not in the same way but according to very similar provisions of the original work. Located near the Louvre and its museum, art museum that gave it its name, it offers a panoramic view of the island of La Cité, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Orsay Museum, Institut de France, Pont-Neuf.
