La Tourasse
La Tourasse d'Aiguillon is an imposing Gallo-Roman building located in Aiguillon, Lot-et-Garonne. This cylindrical monument, in the shape of a tower full of five meters high is largely truncated; it is trimmed in small calcareous bellows. It is erected near a Gallo-Roman necropolis and near the crossing of the two Roman ways of Agen to Bordeaux, on the one hand, and Sos to Excisum, on the other.
We have no certainty so far about the purpose behind his erection: funeral? Military? prestige?
La Tourasse is ranked on the first list of French historic monuments established in 1840.
