aven de la Forestière
L'aven de la Forestière is a cave located in Orgnac-l'Aven, in Ardèche (region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France). It was first explored in February 1966. It should not be confused with the Aven d'Orgnac, which is at some distance in the same municipality.
Location: The Aven de la Forestière is located northwest of the village of Orgnac. It is accessible by road D217 which connects Orgnac-l'Aven to Labastide-de-Virac, from where you can reach Vallon-Pont-d'Arc. Coming from Orgnac, it is reached by a road that detachs to the left about 3.5 km. Although this cave is located in the territory of the commune of Orgnac-l'Aven, it belongs to the private estate of the neighbouring municipality of Issirac which has a communal wood there.
Description: The cave has rich crystallisations. A rare feature is the roots of trees that pierce the ceilings.
