Palais impérial de Perrache

About

The Imperial Palace of Perrache (sometimes called the Imperial Palace of Lyon or simply the Imperial Palace in the documents of the period) is a Napoleonic architectural and urban project never realized, intended to provide Lyon with an imperial residence. Initiated in 1804 as part of the sénatus-consulte providing four imperial palaces in the province, he was actively studied between 1806 and 1811, before being abandoned in 1814. The idea was briefly taken over in 1853 under Napoleon III, without further action. The site was located on Perrache peninsula, at the exact location of the present Carnot Square and the Cours de Verdun (2nd arrondissement of Lyon in 2025), the imperial garden extending southward to the current Bayard, Charlemagne, Rambaud quai and part of the Confluence district.
