About

The work of Schœnenbourg, or Schoenenburg work, is a fortified work of the Maginot line, located on the border of the communes of Hunspach and Ingolsheim, in the French department of Lower Rhine in the Grand Est region. It's a big artillery structure, with eight blocks. Built from 1931, it was slightly damaged by the fighting of June 1940, then by the German sabotage of 1945, before being repaired at the beginning of the Cold War. It is the largest work of the line open to the public in Alsace, included in its entirety in the additional inventory of historical monuments, with all its original elements.
