ferme Courbet
The farm Courbet, also known as the Farm of Flagey, is the farm where the family of the painter Gustave Courbet lived in Flagey, in the French department of Doubs. It became a cultural centre in 2009.
History: Flagey's farm belonged to the family of Gustave Courbet (1819-1877). It was purchased in the 1990s by the community of municipalities Amancey-Loue-Lison, which provided funding and conservation. It was purchased by the General Council of the Doubs from the community of communes Amancey Loue Lison for a symbolic euro. Renovated from 2008 and inaugurated in July 2009, it is part of the cultural project "Country of Courbet, Country of Artist".
Courbet farm today: The Courbet Farm now houses an exhibition hall and an artist residence surrounded by a vegetable garden offering a large number of plant species. Visits are free. The main room of the farm is the old barn, which has been refurbished into a temporary exhibition room. It also hosts some cultural events.
