musée Bonnard
The Bonnard Museum is the only museum in the world dedicated to the work of Pierre Bonnard, a prominent figure in 19th and 20th century art. The museum opened on June 25, 2011 at the Cannet. Like Giverny for Claude Monet, Nice for Matisse, Le Cannet was a great place for Bonnard.
In 1926 he bought the villa Le Bosquet and spent more than twenty years there. During this period, which lasts almost 25 years, he paints his most inspired paintings, those whose specialists agree that they are his most beautiful works. It was therefore legitimate for Le Cannet to celebrate Bonnard by offering him his first museum.
After its second year, it has already welcomed more than 150,000 visitors, placing it in the cultural institutions of importance of the French Riviera. Apart from presenting its collections, the Bonnard Museum offers one to two temporary exhibitions per year. He received the label "Musée de France" in December 2006 on the basis of his scientific and cultural project.
He signed a partnership agreement with the museums of Orsay and Orangery.
