About

The medieval castle of Clermont (Clarus mons, Claromont, Clarmonz) is an 11th century castle, the seat of a castle, whose remains stand on the commune of Clermont in the department of Haute-Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. In the lower part of the castle, called plain castle, was built at the end of the 16th century, by Bishop Gallois de Regard a Renaissance style pleasure castle, from the stones of the old castle.
