About

Location: The castle is located in the commune of Chauvirey-le-Châtel, in the French department of Haute-Saône.

Château-Dessus

History: The Château Dessus was built in the 13th century, west of an older building. During the division of the seigneury of Chauvirey, it becomes one of the two castles, with the Château-Dessous, nearby. In poor condition, it was rebuilt in the seventeenth century on the plans of Jacques Gentillâtre. Left to abandonment in the 18th century, it fell into ruin. There's only one wall left today. The building was listed as historic monuments in 1994.
