The Church of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette in Tilloloy, in the Somme, is a building erected in the 16th century whose architecture has some originality.
History: The church of Tilloloy was built not far from the castle of which it was also the seigneurial chapel, from 1530 to 1534 at the initiative of Antoinette de Rasse, widow of John III of Soyecourt, lord of Tilloloy upon his return from a pilgrimage to the Holy House of Lorette in Italy. It replaced a church dedicated to Saint Nicholas. It is on the first list of Historic Monuments of 1840. It was restored in the 19th century under the leadership of Edmond Duthoit. The church was largely destroyed during the Great War. It was restored during the interwar period by Henri Moreau, chief architect of the Historic Monuments from 1929 to 1934 for masonry and from 1935 to 1938 for furniture.
External: The church of Tilloloy is built of brick, the stone being reserved for carved decoration. Its general appearance recalls that of some fortified churches in Thiérache. The facade is finished with a gable between two turrets with roof...
