Saint-Blaise Church is a historic monument located in Sarrewerden, in the French department of Bas-Rhin.
History: The first mention of a place of worship in Sarrewerden dates from 1342. It is then only a chapel whose location is poorly determined. It was destroyed in 1348 and rebuilt at the entrance of the castle, facing the bridge crossing the Saar. This new building serves as a castral chapel for the Counts of Sarrewerden and welcomes the faithful of the village on weekdays, however they are invited to go to the church of their parish on Sundays and for the sacraments. In the 1470s, the Count of Nicolas de Moers-Sarrewerden sought to build a church to house a chapter of regular canons of the Order of St Augustine. The company is nevertheless made difficult by its financial difficulties, which oblige it to borrow and hire its county. The construction probably takes place in a period between 1475 and 1500, being certain that the works were already started in 1482 and that the church has a prior, and is therefore functional, in 1495.
