Saint-Maurice Church is a historic monument located in Fegersheim, in the French department of Bas-Rhin.
Location: This building is located Church Square in Fegersheim on the outskirts of Strasbourg in Alsace.
Architecture: This church, erected in 1763 in a Baroque style, enjoys the status of historical monument. Its symmetrical façade features a central bell tower. Above the gate, a niche houses a stonestone statue of Saint Maurice as a Roman officer, also in Baroque style. Inside, one can contemplate a magnificent polychrome wooden statuary group dating from the 16th century, representing Christ and Saint John. Although part of an iconographic theme appeared at the beginning of the 15th century, this statuary group adopted a later composition. He presents the posture of St John sleeping at the feet of a Christ in majesty, symbolizing in an allegorical way the soul resting in divine hands.
