Saint-Médard Church is a Catholic church located in the commune of Montignac, in the Gironde department, France.
Location: The church is located at Le Bourg-Ouest, 200 m from the D19 departmental road.
The Romanesque building was built in the 12th century. The church was a priory of the Abbey of Sainte-Croix of Bordeaux. From the early church there is only the south wall of the nave with its two narrow windows separated by a flat buttress. In the second half of the 12th century, the Romanesque choir was rebuilt. The western facade, with its broken arches and blind arches, dates from the 13th or 14th century. At the end of the Middle Ages, the north wall of the Romanesque choir was demolished and the width of the nave and choir doubled. The church may have become too small with the arrival of new inhabitants, the Gavaches, who come to settle in an area devastated by the Hundred Years' War. The new choir is only partly built. The part built in medium aircraft was to be vaulted as shown by the departures of vaults, the north-east corner column and the column primer to the north, but, no doubt for lack of money...
