About

The Priory Saint-Andéol de Claveyson is a 12th century Romanesque church located in Claveyson, in the French department of Drôme and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

The priory is built in the hamlet of Saint-Andéol, on the town of Claveyson. A first priory, at the same place, was mentioned on the cartular of Grenoble. By 1458 he was a member of the diocese of Vienna, but attached to the Abbey of Cluny. The religious order installed there respected the precepts of Saint Benedict. The priory has been classified as historical monuments since 30 May 1984.

Architecture: The priory was built from the twelfth century. It is now quite composite in its construction. From the Romanesque period, only the bedside remains with its semi-circular apse in cut stone. The western stone façade dates back to the late 15th century: the movement of the flamboyant Gothic portal is very precise and vigorous.
