Notre-Dame des Vernettes

The sanctuary of Notre-Dame des Vernettes is located in the territory of the municipality of Peisey-Nancroix in Savoie. It was built in the 18th century. A high place of devotion since the seventeenth century, a great pilgrimage takes place there every 16 July, during which the statue of the Virgin of Mercy is carried in procession with devotion.

Overlooking the Ponthurin valley, the sanctuary consists of a large chapel housing the Virgin of Pitié, as well as, below, at the end of a wooden cross path, a small chapel alongside a well-known "miraculous" source. The sanctuary is located at the foot of the Aiguille Grive (2,732 m) and facing the massif of Bellecôte, with a top of 3,417 m.
