The Arboretum of L'Hôpital is an arboretum, located in the territory of the communes of L'Hôpital (Moselle) and Saint-Avold in the forest of Zang.
This arboretum originated from a club founded in 1967 by Georges Meisse, District Chief of Waters and Forests, as well as Fernand Aust, Pierre Froehelig, Jacques Fischer, who became on 20 March 1975 the Association Protectrice des Oiseaux et de la Nature (APON). Located below the forest of Zang, the arboretum presents local species, close to a stone cottage built by the association's volunteers and several times vandalized. About 40 trees and bushes are identified. The main purpose of the association is to protect birds and has installed in the arboretum 120 nest boxes for passers-by and 3 feeders. APON is a non-profit association led by volunteers. The resources come mainly from members' contributions, donations, actions undertaken by the association (field parties) and grants from the municipalities of the Hospital and Saint-Avold.
