abbatiale Notre-Dame-des-Ardents et Saint-Pierre
Notre-Dame-des-Ardents-et-Saint-Pierre is a Catholic parish church located in Lagny-sur-Marne, Seine-et-Marne department, France. It is the former abbey church of Saint-Pierre de Lagny. It was classified as a historical monument by order of 12 July 1886.
Chronology: The present abbey was built on the site of the various churches built from 648, the date of foundation of St. Peter's Abbey of Lagny by St. Fursy, an Irish monk. It was ravaged in 910 by the Normans. The Count of Meaux Herbert II de Troyes and his son Étienne I de Troyes built a new church on the existing ruins in 987. King Robert the Pious offered on the occasion of his consecration by the archbishop of Sens, two relics, from the treasure of Charlemagne at Aachen, a thorn of the Holy Crown of Jesus, as well as a Clou de la Passion, which was stolen in 1567 by Calvinists during the plundering of the monastery.
