église Saint-Denis de Jouy-le-Comte
The church of Saint-Denis de Jouy-le-Comte is a parish Catholic church located in Parmain, Val-d'Oise (France). It dates back to the first half of the 12th century, but perhaps only the north wall of the nave remains of the first church. Shortly before the middle of the century, the reconstruction of the eastern parts of the early church began, which spanned about fifty years.
We start with the south crusillon, then add a chapel oriented. These two spans are still Romanesque and vaulted in cradle. The other spans already display the first Gothic style.
The construction continues through the apse, then continues through the right span of the choir and the cross of the transept, ending with the north crusillon and the north oriented chapel. These parts are vaulted with warheads, and offer an aesthetic and archaeological interest. At the Renaissance in 1561, the construction of a lower side south of the nave profoundly altered the appearance of the church, and bore the characteristics of Nicolas Le Mercier's achievements.
But the works are not completed, and the large arcades towards the nave are only built in the middle of the next century. The yard stops there, and the vault...
