Vanoise National Park is a national park located in France in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The national park extends mainly on the Vanoise massif and for a small part on the eastern part of the Alps, between the Isère valley, the Tarentaise in the north, and the Arc, the Maurienne in the south. Following the ministerial decree of 27 April 2015 approving its charter and the decision of the municipalities to join or not, it consists of a protected area, known as the "core zone", of 535 km2, and an area of accession, without specific protection, comprising the territory of the municipalities of Peisey-Nancroix and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville.
During the work of setting up the charter, in accordance with the law of 14 April 2006, the optimal area of accession (AOA) extended to the territory of 29 communes (ex-peripheral area initially composed of 28 communes, plus Bozel); they have had the free opportunity to accede to the charter constituting a project of protection, and development of the territory respectful of the environment.
