This Saint-Nicolas church is a church in Wasquehal, in the French department of northern France. Simple Gothic style, it is located in the Centre district, rue d'Austerlitz. Raised in honour of Saint Nicholas whose cult is attested in the West from the 11th century, the church replaces the places of worship that have succeeded each other in the present Mauritius-Schumann Square since the 9th century.
The project of its construction, carried out by the municipal council of 15 May 1876 and following a report of 1871, addressed to Régnier archbishop of Cambrai, meets the objective of having a larger church in the heart of the city that would replace the church built in 1511 which became too small and old. The church now depends on the dean of Roubaix of the Archdiocese of Lille and is part of the Blessed Parish-Frédéric-Ozanam which includes the Church of Saint-Clément of Wasquehal and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Sart. Its construction, which spanned two years, began in 1877 with the laying of a first stone.
