About

The church Notre-Dame de Valbenoîte is a religious building of the 13th and 17th centuries, enlarged and completed by a bell tower in the 19th century, located on the Place de l'Abbaye in the district of Valbenoîte, territory of the commune of Saint-Étienne in the Loire department in France. This ancient Cistercian abbey church, several times destroyed and ravaged by fires, closed and sold as national property at the Revolution became at the beginning of the nineteenth century Catholic parish forming part of the parish of Saint-Benoit and the diocese of Saint-Étienne. Since the beginning of 2022, the parish of Saint-Benoît has been reunited with the parish of Saint-Étienne under the double name Saint-Étienne-Saint-Benoît.
